Lexington Law

Lexington Law is a credit repair company that if you have done any looking on the Internet, you have most likely heard of them. They are truly the McDonald’s of credit repair. These guys have build a virtual assembly line for repairing credit, and in our opinion, this is not necessarily a good thing for their clients. Although this has become what appears to be a very successful business for Lexington Law, the complaints and chatter on the Internet tell of a not-so-great experience for consumers.

The BBB currently reports Lexington Law with “NO RATING”, and shows a whopping 288 complaints filed with the BBB over the last 36 months. When doing an Internet search for complaints against Lexington Law, there were more and we were able to review many of them for content and type of complaint. The complaints seem to run the full gambit from customer service, to billing and refund issues. Many of the complaints are misunderstanding issues about the services that Lexington Law provides, and are possibly due to the fact that Lexington Law allows clients to sign up online without actually speaking to anyone to qualify or explain the services.

One of the issues that continues to come up with credit repair companies like Lexington Law who’s business model requires them to enroll hundreds or even thousands of clients each month, is that clients simply don’t get the individual level of assistance that credit repair requires in order to be successful. One of the most common complaints is that a client enrolled in the program, has been billed their monthly fee for anywhere from 6 to 18 months, and has seen little to no results. Again, this is the inherent problem with having so many clients that individual attention cannot be effectively maintained on each account. It could be that the client did not send in updated credit reports to allow for continued work, or that they never received results in the mail, or even that no work was actually done on their case. It seems from the consumer experiences with Lexington Law that their model works effectively only when the client fully understands the process and is proactive about making sure work continues on their file.

There are a large number of positive testimonials on both Lexington Law’s website, as well as throughout the internet, but we are discounting the majority of them because they are obviously fake testimonials written by Lexington Law Affiliates to entice consumers to click on their affiliate link and signup for services. It is important to always understand the motives behind some of the information you read online.

Our conclusion about Lexington Law is simple. For the majority of consumers looking for assistance with credit repair, you would be much better off working with a smaller company with a good track record and one that provides individual attention to each client to ensure the credit repair process goes smoothly.  Since most people do not understand credit and credit repair, we would recommend not signing up for any credit repair service until you have spoken to a knowledgeable representative (not an affiliate) of the credit repair company you choose, and fully understand how the process will go as well as any guarantees or refund processes.

We are giving Lexington Law relatively low ratings simply because we don’t believe that their business model is able to provide the kind of individual attention that clients need for credit repair to be effective. It is clear from the number of complaints about Lexington Law that their “Fast Food” approach to credit repair has many flaws.

Extremely expensive for a set of properly formatted letters that you can find on the internet or in a credit repair book on amazon. I even gave them $9.99 for a credit report that I PROVIDED. They gave me a phone number to get that refund where I left a voice message. I called back and mentioned I was trying to get my refund since they did not provide any service and canceled within the trial period…they left me on hold repeatedly for 30 minutes and I got fed up. CROOKS AND SCAMMERS!!!

I can’t say enough negative things about Lexington Law:
First, I never got a coherent reply to my numerous emails– not from my designated paralegal or anyone else. In fact, the reply usually came from someone else that I had never dealt with.
Second, they were completely unresponsive to the courses of action I designated in my fancy-looking, online “case valet.” There were items in my credit report that were correct, that I told them to ignore, and they still kept trying to dispute them. Conversely, there was one item that just needed to be updated with one bureau, and after FOUR MONTHS there is no change on my credit report.
Third, I got the chance to see some of the dispute letters they sent on my behalf when they were returned do to errors in the addressee line. They were HORRIBLE– not only were they outside the scope of a credit dispute, they were filled with bad grammar and punctuation errors, and SIGNED WITH MY NAME!!! I honestly believe Lexington is in the business of outsourcing foreign nationals to type up mass letters and ‘spam’ creditors and credit bureaus into submission.
Fourth, I requested copies of all letters written on my behalf, and received no reply. I shudder to think about all the unintelligible letters out there bearing by forged signature. I also worry about the number of unsavory people that have access to my name, address, social security number and financial information, courtesy of a part-time job writing spam letters for Lexington Law.
Fifth, after I requested cancellation, citing all of the reasons above, their only reply was that they were going to charge me for another month, even though they had been billing me at the beginning of the month, in violation of the Credit Repair Organization Act (Sec. 404, “Prohibited Actions.”)
Finally, I should mention that I chose the most expensive level of service offered. I’d hate to see the bargain package.

Follow up: After numerous request for some basic infomation went ignored, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. After some initial complaining and mis-information, Lexington sent me $200 unsolicited, instead of releasing the letters written on my behalf, which is all I had requested. When I stated that I would not be satisfied until they sent me the documentation or gave me a FULL refund, they sent the documents, then had the audacity to demand the $200 back. Now that I have read everything that Lexington wrote on my behalf, I can say without any doubt that anyone is much better off writing his own dispute letters than having this company do it.

Nutshell: Lexington does extremely poor quality work, has no customer service, will not honor their refund policy, and has many links on the web designed to look like real customer reviews that are actually just advertisements.

I used them to help me repair my credit and they’ve done an excellent job so far. I can only assume that people have problems with them because they don’t read the fine print in the contract.
Lexington Law can’t erase everything and it does take time to get things removed, especially if they’re valid.

I joined lexington and in my opinion, lexington law was an absolute waste of money. After getting no results I demanded copies of the letters they sent on my behalf and was shoked at what was given to me.

The dates were all wrong. These so called letters on my behalf had dates from when I wasn’t even a client. They had accounts that were not mine. The only thing that was remotely related to me, was the fact that they had my name on them.

In my opinion, Do not waste your money on lexington law

I recently signed up with Lexington Law to help reduce the number of negative listings on my credit report. I was informed of how they operate, what the costs are and what steps would be taken and in what order; this information was explained to me very clearly and I was not left confused after speaking with the paralegal representing Lexington Law.

It is my opinion that the only reason why people are giving negative reviews about this agency is because they are not holding up their end of things. A person has bad credit for many reasons, but the main reason is because people are erresponsible when it comes to money matters, filing, making calls, emails and keeping an overall track and good grasp on the issues at hand.

It is for this same reason that people end up with a bad taste in their mouth when it comes to Lexington’s or other agencies who offer similar services, the consumer simply does not follow through with anything, they have this idea in their head that just because they are paying for this credit repair service that they will automatically get positive results just by sitting back and letting Lexington do all the work. This is not true, YOU as the consumer, know far more about debts that you may owe or late payments that have been made, etc. than anyone else, including your credit repair agency.

This thought of just sitting back and reeping the rewards is the exact same reason why most people end up with bad credit, such as myself, people think like this… “Excellent, I got this credit card, now I have extra money to spend.” But their own erresponsibility and thought process is not saying “I have this credit card, but I need to watch how I use it, make the payments and keep on top of it everyday to see that it does not effect me or my credit file in a negative way.” Same with using a credit repair service, you MUST keep on top of it AT ALL TIMES and it does not hurt to at least make an attempt to repay old debts. This is not only eliminating a debt that has been hanging over your head, but it will also help Lexington or other credit repair agencies do their job… REPAIR YOUR CREDIT!! It is extremely difficult to remove a legitimate entry from you credit file when you have not paid the debt or made payment arrangements.

The bottom line here is, you and you credit repair agency need to be joined at the hip throughout the entire repair process and if repairing your credit is seriously important to you, you will be persistant and see that this union happens. It also takes hard work from both parties, not just the repair agency. If you do this, you will find that the positive results will indeed come!

Good luck to all with your credit repair!
