A while back we had done a review of NCA Credit Repair and rated them highly due to their history and fantastic reputation in the industry. We were notified recently that they have changed their model for credit repair from full-service to a do-it-yourself credit repair and education membership. After digging a bit into their new offering, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and depth of the program. I will add that their new program is not yet released, but we were able to get a sneak peak.

For consumers looking for a way to quickly improve their credit scores and actually learn something in the process, this is the program for you. For a one-time small purchase, you get unlimited access to their member’s area back-end that contains step-by-stem education e-learning videos. Things are layed out in an easy to follow format that will litterally take just a few minutes at a time. There is also a member’s forum so that members can share successes, tips, and help each other through the credit improvement process.

I suppose the high quality of this program should not be a surprise given the great reputation of NCA Credit Repair in the industry and among consumers. Seeing that there are so many credit repair companies willing to take your money and do nothing for you, we would highly recommend this new program.

We were told that it should release sometime around Feb 2010 and you can visit the website and click any of the sign-up buttons to get on their notification list. The website states that those on the list will be given a discount code for sign-up.

NCA Credit Repair has been in business since 1998 and in comparison to many of the other credit repair companies we are reviewing, they are a much smaller company. Another thing we found to be very interesting about them is that they do little to no paid advertising. They claim on their website that most of their clients are “word-of-mouth” or referrals from other clients; and the lack of paid advertising would tend to back that up.

It is also evident from their BBB record of an “A” rating and only 1 complaint, that they are doing something right. A search of the Internet for complaints did not turn up a single complaint about NCA Credit Repair. In fact, the only mentions that it did turn up were positive testimonials.  Overall, we really like this company.

From the information at their website, they charge a flat monthly fee of $29/mo for unlimited deletions and disputes and clients can cancel the program at any time. This makes enrollment very easy and a very small financial commitment. However, this same low cost is what we feel makes this a program that is not in the best interest of those signing up. Because the cost for services is so low, the company is not going to go into full-out battle mode to clean up your credit. They are going to take their time and work very slowly, just a couple trade-lines at a time, to keep you a paying member as long as they can. By delivering some minimal level of service, they are fulfilling their obligation. The real mismatch here is that everyone who is seeking out credit report repair, is looking to clean up their credit as quickly as possible, not drag out the process for 18-24 months. The credit repair program offered by eCreditAttorney is the slow boat to China for credit repair.

In the long run, you may be paying only $29/mo, but if you have to remain paying for a very long time to get any significant results, you may not be actually paying less. In fact, you may be better off to pay 2 to 3 times more and get your credit cleaned up quickly because you can save thousands per year in interest with better credit.

In most cases people are working to improve their credit to purchase a home, or obtain credit for specific purpose quickly, but if you are truely looking for cheap credit repair, and don’t care how long it takes, and don’t care that you may be spending more in the long run, eCreditAttorney seems to be a reputable company to work with. You have to also keep in mind that since they have over 20,000 clients (according to their website), they are using a cookie-cutter approach to credit repair when you situation may require a more individualized approach to see optimal results.

The BBB currently reports Lexington Law with “NO RATING”, and shows a whopping 288 complaints filed with the BBB over the last 36 months. When doing an Internet search for complaints against Lexington Law, there were more and we were able to review many of them for content and type of complaint. The complaints seem to run the full gambit from customer service, to billing and refund issues. Many of the complaints are misunderstanding issues about the services that Lexington Law provides, and are possibly due to the fact that Lexington Law allows clients to sign up online without actually speaking to anyone to qualify or explain the services.

One of the issues that continues to come up with credit repair companies like Lexington Law who’s business model requires them to enroll hundreds or even thousands of clients each month, is that clients simply don’t get the individual level of assistance that credit repair requires in order to be successful. One of the most common complaints is that a client enrolled in the program, has been billed their monthly fee for anywhere from 6 to 18 months, and has seen little to no results. Again, this is the inherent problem with having so many clients that individual attention cannot be effectively maintained on each account. It could be that the client did not send in updated credit reports to allow for continued work, or that they never received results in the mail, or even that no work was actually done on their case. It seems from the consumer experiences with Lexington Law that their model works effectively only when the client fully understands the process and is proactive about making sure work continues on their file.

There are a large number of positive testimonials on both Lexington Law’s website, as well as throughout the internet, but we are discounting the majority of them because they are obviously fake testimonials written by Lexington Law Affiliates to entice consumers to click on their affiliate link and signup for services. It is important to always understand the motives behind some of the information you read online.

Our conclusion about Lexington Law is simple. For the majority of consumers looking for assistance with credit repair, you would be much better off working with a smaller company with a good track record and one that provides individual attention to each client to ensure the credit repair process goes smoothly.  Since most people do not understand credit and credit repair, we would recommend not signing up for any credit repair service until you have spoken to a knowledgeable representative (not an affiliate) of the credit repair company you choose, and fully understand how the process will go as well as any guarantees or refund processes.

At the time of this writing, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) reports an “F” rating for Trinity credit Solutions and they currently have 29 complaints filed with the BBB in the last 36 months (12 of which were in the last 12 months). This is a high number of complaints and should be a warning sign to consumers who are considering their services. A Google search for complaints against Trinity revealed that Trinity Credit Services is a company name that seems to come up often in complaints about the credit repair services industry. Keep in mind that consumers tend to only complain after they have tried to get things resolved with the company directly. This tells us that the company may not provide an acceptable level of customer service to support their program.

Overall, given the number and type of complaints, we feel their are far superior companies that deliver credit report repair.
